BMS correct sequence of electrical connections

BMS correct sequence of electrical connections was created by ed_solomon
What is the correct sequence for connecting a battery pack to a BMS to avoid damage? Presumably the B- connection should be made first. Should the B+ connection be made next or should the cell balancing connector be plugged into the BMS next?

There is not a specific rule except that the load has to be connected last, after the proper settings configuration of the device.

That being said, it's preferred to connect first the USB, configure the BMS accordingly and then the balancing port, after that any communication port, DIN, DOUT, battery, and last the load.
