FOC mode

I'm trying to get my motor to run in FOC mode for smooth transitioning across poles. I have tried to follow instructions in the manual, but it hasn't been much different than without FOC mode. I've played with the FOC PI gains, but this has only made things more jittery inbetween poles. I'm wondering if there is something I'm not setting correctly.
