Can you switch CAN modes to send data between controllers and a display?

I am trying to send data between two controllers, while also having those controllers send data to a display with TPDOs. Is this possible? I have tried setcommand(_CEN,1) and setcommand(_CEN,4) to switch between RoboCAN and CANOpen, but have had no luck.
