Here is a word description of the location of P5 on the board (see pic: dev.roboteq.com/dev1/press/sdc2130-1850x1387.jpg ):
There is a single-line 8-pin connector in the left bottom corner of the board. It's labelled P3 on its left side. A little upper and a little to the right from P3, there is a group of 8 pads. It looks like a SOIC-8 component has been removed from there. The top left corner of this group is labelled P5 (it's not very clearly seen, but sort of distinguishable).

Here is the fix. Top 2 pads need to be shorted.
Edit:

Short the top right and top left pads together. Picture didn't upload, my apologies.

I shortened the top 2 pads as you described. It's working now.
Thanks.

I have the same problem. I see the P5 in your the photo. I have exactly the same pins on my board in that location but it is not labeled as P5 (no label at all). Do you think they are the same?

They go horizontal. So make a short that goes horizontal across the pads and not vertical.

I connected the usb and then the pins temporarily( for less than a minute), just to check if this works or not. Nothing happened. Is there sth wrong with this approach? (Do I have to connect the pins first, then plug in the usb or sth else?)

Did you power up the controller?

What do you mean by power up? I thought if I just plug in the usb and connect the pins, the led will turn on and the pc will recognize the com port. What else do I need?
(I just start to work with this motor controller and I'm compeletly new to it. Maybe I am missing sth obvious)
