We have been using 2 XDC2460S units, over USB, for months, with no issues. These units where ordered in August/September of 2017.

We then ordered 6 more in November, and this batch of units has had major issues enumerating/working over USB. Note that in *all* cases, the LED indicators show normal operation (green, green, orange)

When you plug in a unit. you see the errors below (this is from the linux kernel log, reproduces on all linux devices I have tried, PIs, intel NUCs running Ubuntu, etc. Also, they do not enumerate on Mac OSX either).

What is bizarre is that 2 units worked for a week, then after a regular power cycle, they stopped working, showing the USB failures the rest of the units showed from day 1.

Any ideas? Can we return them and get new units?

If the USB light is on, they should have a successful connection, at least hardware wise. Are you sure that your cable isn't bad?

Hi Gabriel, we have tried 8 different cables. The same cable *works* with other USB hardware and with our last working roboteq. That batch of 6 has been incredibly flaky.

Also, did you notice I mentioned the same controllers *worked*, with the same cable, for a week, then stopped working?? Then 2 out of the same batch never worked, showing this USB issues immediately.

we also tried different USB ports (direct to the PI, or through a HUB), same problem.

at this stage, given our multi year experience with at least 4 different motor controller vendors, we are seriously doubting this is something "simple" like a cable. So unless you have something you want me to try, can we please get either a refund or an exchange started?

thanks
g

Btw, we have tried USB cables from different vendors as well, just in case, same issue.
On ubuntu and Intenl NUC hardware, we get slightly different/more kernel logs regarding the USB plug event. This is really does look like a client (device) side link layer issue.
