I upgraded my computer to windows 8.1 and I can't install drivers for my roboteq mdc2250.
I tried every possible scenario to install driver. (Including disabling driver signing requirement)
In a forum post roboteq says that they are looking into permanent resolution. This was 6 months ago.

Is there any other solution to unsigned driver problem?
Is roboteq going to sign their drivers?
Is there any other way we can obtain STMicroelectronics DFU drivers?

You will need to manually assign the drivers for the DFU if windows cannot find it.
Simply wait for windows to give you the options to have you look for the driver yourself. Then point in this directory.

C:/programfiles(x86)/Roboteq/Roborun Plus/DFU Drivers.

Then click okay.

Then try install.

I already tried your suggestion before posting to forum.

I rebooted my computer and disabled driver signing requirement.
tried to instal by using following methods:
1 Right click on stdfu.inf file and click install
2 In device manager right click on "motor controller" click update driver software >browse my computer for driver software>browse>select C:\Program Files (x86)\Roboteq\Roborun Plus\DFU Driver folder
3 In device manager right click on "motor controller" click update driver software >browse my computer for driver software> Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer>show all devices>next>have disk > select stdfu.inf file from C:\Program Files (x86)\Roboteq\Roborun Plus\DFU Driver folder

All three methods failed to install driver.

any suggestion?

Is there another computer you can try this on? Maybe a machine that is running windows 7 or older.

Typically, allowing the computer to force unsigned driver and then manually directing Windows to source of drivers fixes this issue.

I will try to replicate on my end.

Okay I got mine to work.

Here is what I did. Sorry it took so long. I forgot I had to do the following to get the usb driver to install first since I didn't have it done ahead of time.

I used the run command to execute this code to shutdown pc.

shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00

Then it shutdown the computer, set for troubleshoot>advanced options>startup settings
then set for force unsigned drivers
Start up roborun, try updating via usb
Stm32 driver trying to install
installed

You can try that. I'm not which method you had used for the driver signing. So if you did something similar to this and are still unable to get the DFU driver to install, then using windows 7 will work.

I completed these steps

shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00

Then it shutdown the computer, set for troubleshoot>advanced options>startup settings
then set for force unsigned drivers

But when I run Roborun I can not click update controller via usb button because it is greyed out.

It's grayed out because the controller is not communicating to pc.
