I have a laptop with no serial connection. Can I connect with USB? If so is there a pin-out schematic so I can make a cable?

I have successfully used a USB/serial port connector with the Roboteq. Just plug it in, install the software, and the USB port creates one or more virtual COM ports. The connector should hava a USB plugging into the computer and 1 or more standard serial port connectors at the other end. NOTE - these kind of ports typically have problems at very high transmission speeds - for example, 9600 is ok but you can't use them for, say programming a microprocessor.
