* NOTE: Pins 6 and 7 are for TTL level serial. Pins 2 and 3 are also
labeled as Tx and Rx in the motor controllers datasheet but
these are RS-232 level.

I have just found about this !!! Is it true ?

just one last thing and i will quit bothering you so much with my questions.

Is it possible to receive Data via serial from the controller to the arduino.Something like the position (Markers count) , batterie status , error etc.. It will be very helpfull .

no bother.
I can't look at it now because I'm not home.
But from what I remembered I followed the pinout in the RoboteQ document for the ldc2230 controller and I had no problem.
If it doesn't work, you have to check your wiring. I went through the same thing.

The unit you have from sparkfun should step down the logic for you to use it on your arduino.
You must use it. otherwise you will probably destroy your board.
If that doesn't work, flip the tx,rx.

I had purchased this wheelchair from a pawn shop and repaired it.
Here was mine working with the Arduino. I got it to work with the Propeller chip too. At one point, I added voice.(i have to find that video).
But now since I have a 3D printer, I'm going to redo it to make it much, much neater. The photo kinda shows the RS-232 connected.

WAW !!! What a geat job you have done !!! I'm really impressed !
I'm still waitting for the parts to arrive . It take forever in my country .
But how does the controller interpret the code send via serial.Do i need to write a script on the motor controller ?
Any idea on how to write a script in controller that will send data to arduino via serial .

Those serial strings I sent you earlier is what the Arduino (MCU) sends serially to the controller. The controller interpret those as to which direction to control the motor. Since I already spent countless hours trying to figure that out. That part is already solved for you. Once you get it going, you will just have to make adjustments according to your platform.
Some of the string information is listed in the documentation for the controller. Its an interesting read, you should read through it while you wait for your parts.
Read especially the wiring connectivity, specifications, limitations, etc. and also the RS-232 section.

Nice one, I've managed to do similar and got good results when sending commands. Did you come across reading commands? Any thoughts around how to go about that?
I'm trying to read motor speed from my roboteq in arduino, any serial example will be appreciated...Thanks!
