To Whom It May Concern,

We are using a a Roboteq MBL1660 to control a Nanotec DB80MO with sensors, this is running in Hall and Encoder sensing mode. We are producing a small car type vehicle.

The motor should be able to achieve 3000rpm at 48v (using batteries), but we are testing the system with a bench supply of 42v, therefore the motor should be able to achieve 2600rpm. However we only ever achieve around 1600rpm, on an unloaded chassis without wheels. The chassis will be loaded with equipment, so we do need to have a much higher RPM when conduction unloaded bench testing.

We have set the max RPM to 3000 in all the Roborun settings options we can find, but still are not getting the results we need. We would like to know how to get the extra RPM that we expect to achieve.

Thanks for your help.

Mark

Hello Marc,

Please share the following information:

1) Current firmware version on your controller (can be seen in bottom right corner of Roborun+ window)

2) Your controller's configuration file (Configuration > Save Profile to Disk)

3) A recorded recorded data log (recorded and saved from Roborun+ Run tab) of the data points shown in the attached image

You are welcome to attach the requested files here to the forum in .zip format or if you would prefer you can send all to me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Hi Blake,

Please find attached the data log and motor controller profile that you requested. The firmware version is v1.7 MBLXXXX 10/13/2016.
I hope this helps identify the cause of the lack of RPM.
Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Configuration files are .xml which is not an an excepted attachment format allowed on our forum. So, the datalog was attached but your config file was not. Please put the config file in a .zip and attach or email it to me

Hi Blake,
Any ideas as to why the motor cannot be driven past 60% (enc) rpm?

Are you also using the Nanotec motor in sinusoidal commutation? You should test it's speed with trapezoidal commutation in Open Loop.

I am using a panasonic brushless motor.
Rated for 50W and 3000rpm.

I have also tested with a printed motors motor and I can't get over 1600rpm.

I have it in a closed loop speed control mode and I am using trapezoidal communication.

In open loop I have the same speed.
