Hello all,

I've got an application where I'm using an HDC2460s using the No Mosfet Fail output for one side of the coil as in the data sheets. I have an operator button on the other.

I'm wondering what the opinions were of adding a battery disconnect. This is a "last resort" disconnect and a controller disconnect when the onboard charger is being used.

I assume that I'd have to add the Diode as per the drawing for the fuses(have two of those now as it's a 24vdc setup) but was curious if anyone else has done something similar or had experience with this.

Thanks!

Ian

We actually recommend this setup. It should be in the same drawing that the fuses are implemented in. Do you have a wiring diagram of what you have right now?

I have the data sheet for the controller that shows the setup for the contactor or a switch. Pages 4,6. I using page 6.
It doesn't show a manual disconnect with the contactor though.

In a worst case scenario, if the contactor fails ON the operator can manually disconnect the batteries if the unit is still running. That's the theory.
My question was should I also have a heavy duty diode across the terminals of the manual switch? This is located (on the drawing) between the battery and the Fuse-F1 .

I don't think that will be completely necessary. The diode is there because of the inductive nature of the contractor. You will need to implement a resistor across the switch however. If you don't do that, the controller will reboot whenever that switch is flipped on, even if it is receiving power on power CTRL.
