Application Engineer - Motion Control and Robotic Systems

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for an Application Engineer based near Athens, Greece:

Summary of Role

In this role as Application Engineer, you will be working with a highly motivated team to bring to market innovative solutions for customers in the AGV, Robotics and Industrial Automation Markets. Key aspects for this role will be to combine together motor controllers and motors in order to fullfil customer requirements, integrate accordingly the solution and validate it.

Primary Responsibilities

Support New Business Opportunities (NBO):

  • Interface with customers and NBO team, gather application requirements.
  • Translate requirements to product solutions (drive and motor).
  • Test customer proposed solutions (either on customer replicas or on dyno), make sure our offer can meet the customer requirements.
  • Use lab tools and measuring equipment to test BLDC motors in applications.
  • Support customers as they evaluate our products.

Application Innovations:

  • Develop application specific test setups and identify features, functions or capabilities, to perform on application.
  • Work with Product Marketing and R&D group to define and implement new features and test products on real world applications with primary focus on AGV, Robotics, Industrial Automation.

Publications:

  • Write application notes, technical documents, test reports etc. as needed
  • Prepare Applications-Centric Sales Presentation Material.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Experience in operating motor dynos.
  • Capable of designing and assembling applications systems for testing and evaluation (e.g. AGV replicas, coupled motor setups).
  • Experience in electric motor control theory for permanent magnet synchronous motors and understanding of electric motor fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with lab and testing equipment including power analyzers and oscilloscopes.
  • Knowledge of communication Fieldbuses: CAN, EtherCAT, Profinet, Modbus, etc and ROS.
  • Familiar with motion kinematics is considered as a plus.
  • Basic computer or/and PLC programming skills is considered as a plus.
  • Available for occasional travel.
  • Good time management skills.
  • English language: good speaking and writing level.
  • Good communication skills, positive attitude, and eagerness to learn.
